Cool little bird

This neet little bird is so calm. It will eat the seeds we put out standing at the patio door. It doesn't try to fly away unless I open the door.

Painted Bunting

This bird and a couple of others like it stopped in at our back yard for bird seed. It is a painted bunting and it is beautiful. The colors are so bright it is just hard to believe.
These pictures were taken through our patio door. He did not seem scared at all. He just hopped around picking up seeds while I stood at the door and clicked away.
Every spring we have numerous very brightly colored birds stop in our yard. We always keep seed and water around. I will put up more pictures tomorrow.

Nice Peach Double Hibiscus

I know you are getting tired of looking at hibiscus blooms and flowers so this will be the last one for a while. I will post a few birds or other things next.

But for now let me show you this great hibiscus. It is about 10 years old and it is one of our best.

It is peach in color and is a very solid double bloom. This plant will often have 10 to 20 blooms at one time.

One very nice thing about the hibiscus plant is you can grow one from a cutting. In fact it will start very easily in just a bucket of water. We have started many plants over the years from this one.

By the way each year we cut the plants back and they pop out every spring. As I have said before only a freeze will hurt them.

The Yellow Rose of Texas

This rose is a single very traditional rose.

It has small blooms but they are very bright yellow and have a wonderful smell.

We thought this rose would have lots of blooms but we were wrong. It will produce a bloom every few weeks or so. It is worth the wait because it adds so much color to the garden. This plant is about three years old now.

By the way today in Corpus Christi, Texas the wind was calm, not a cloud in the sky and the temp went up to about 90. Summer is on its way. That means we will be watering more often.

Great White Hibiscus

This is another of our hibiscus plants, it is snow white with a deep red center. I wish the picture was better because this is a very pretty bloom.

We found this plant at one of our local garden centers. I think this plant was about $ 8.00 dollars and it has been blooming regularly. These plants require water regularly if you want them to bloom. The size of the bloom is about 8 inches across.

These plants make it through our winters in South Texas because we only have a few hours of below freezing weather each year. They will freeze if the temp is below 32 for over a day or two.

Even if you loose the plant during the winter it will have given you many months of pleasure for under $ 10.00.

Yellow Hibiscus

In our area of Texas hibiscus plants grow easily.
Again we picked this one up at our Home Depot.
From time to time they have some very nice plants.

We have several different colors and I will post more of them over the days. We have pink, red, white, peach, and yellow. Some are doubles and some are singles like this yellow.

If you click on the picture you can see a larger sample. The center is blood red.

The problem with hibiscus in our area is they need lots of water and we often have weeks without rain. Our sprinkler system is set-up to water the lawn and during a dry period that is not enough water for these.

The bloom will last only one day then it falls off. Most of the small plants will have a couple of blooms each day. These blooms are about 8 inches in diameter. They have no smell but they are great to look at.

You can buy a small 1 gal plant for under $ 5.00 and it will give you wonderful blooms all summer.

Red Rose

Welcome to Top Web Photo. Teri and I enjoy taking pictures and shareing them with our friends and family.

We welcome you to take a look and share some of yours.

We live in Corpus Christi, Texas and most of our pictures are taken in the back yard. We take alot of photos of our flowers and birds.

This rose bloom was on a plant we picked up at Home Depot. It smells wonderful and has lots of blooms. We plant most of our roses in pots because the soil is so sandy.

Teri and I own some land in West Texas at the Terlingua Ranch. We will be posting some of those also.
